Before Sunset, 2004

Before Sunset (2004) obviously becomes another member to my list of favorites, since it’s the sequel to one of my favorite movies of all times, Before Sunrise (1995).
Ten years later, considering the story’s chronology and the real world’s, too, Jesse and Celine meet again. It’s been a highly awaited meeting for the both, only this time the city of Paris is chosen to be the scenario for their wanderings and talks.
More “mature”, experienced in life, having gone through lots in life, Jesse and Celine have basically a single afternoon to catch up with each other, talk about their lives, and the experiences they’ve had since their first encounter ten years earlier. Only this time, things are much different. They’re not meeting for the first time, as before, and they don’t know much about what to expect from each other, since their paths had gone in different directions…

Some people prefer this movie to the first one. I think Before Sunset in another great movie, though I still have that strong feeling for the first one, for Before Sunrise. Anyway, both are great as a combination, though they can work independently for anyone interested in watching them. If you watch Before Sunrise, you’ll just feel you have to watch its sequel, to know what happens next. And, if you watch Before Sunset first (which is pretty much possible, since you don’t need to watch the previous to understand this one), you’ll feel you need to watch Before Sunrise to get to know how Jesse’s and Celine’s story started.
Before Sunset has the same “look and feel” of the first movie, though the characters’ dialogues are more mature now, since they have had 10 years to live and experience life since their last encounter. It’s the same as Before Sunrise, yet different in some ways. And, I love it, just as much as the other.
Once again, they’re walking throughout a city, and talking about the most diverse subjects. Only this time they’re talking about more “adult” subjects, such as work, the environment, relationships, family, sex, and so on. But, the feeling, for the viewer, is pretty much the same as regarding Before Sunrise. The same, and different. This is the feeling I get when I watch both movies in a row.
I really recommend it! And, again, it’s got a quite high rating on IMDB (an outstanding 8.1, again).
